Super Screen Review: Is It Worth the Money?
What you should know before buying a roll: mesh options, installation, cost, and how polyester screen compares with ordinary fiberglass.

Check Super Screen Options ↗Read the verdict ↓Quick verdict: who should consider Super Screen?
Super Screen is a polyester screening option worth considering when long-term durability matters more than the lowest upfront material cost. In my work installing screen on Florida pool cages and lanais, I like its feel and how it handles during installation. But not every project needs premium screening, and mesh choice matters.

Why listen to this review?
I'm a working aluminum contractor, not a product-review website guessing from a spec sheet. I learned the trade through my family's aluminum business, and I document actual jobs on our YouTube channel. The family has nearly 30 years of trade experience. Below you can see the screen going into real enclosures. Read our detailed 10+ year Super Screen field report.

Super Screen after 10+ years: the spline failed before much of the mesh
On a tall Lehigh Acres pool cage, we inspected Super Screen that had been installed for more than a decade. A number of panels still had usable, flexible mesh, even though sections of the spline had shrunk or pulled loose. We re-splined some sections, replaced other panels with new Super Screen and addressed aging fasteners.

Which Super Screen mesh should you buy? (17/14 vs 17/20 vs 20/20)
Mesh numbers describe the approximate thread count in each direction. A tighter mesh can help reduce smaller insects but can also affect airflow and visibility. Confirm exact product specifications, available widths, and intended uses with the manufacturer before ordering.
| Mesh | What to consider | Buying action |
|---|---|---|
| 17/14 | More open mesh; compare airflow and insect protection for your application. | Check availability ↗ |
| 17/20 | Intermediate mesh density; consider it when balancing insect protection and airflow. | Check availability ↗ |
| 20/20 | Tighter mesh; evaluate for smaller insects and potential airflow tradeoffs. | Check availability ↗ |

Super Screen vs regular fiberglass screen
Super Screen (polyester)
Why choose it: a premium option for buyers prioritizing toughness and longevity. Polyester screening can feel noticeably different when handling and installing it.
Tradeoff: usually a higher purchase price; actual performance depends on mesh, installation, exposure and maintenance.
Standard fiberglass screen
Why choose it: typically a lower-cost option and widely used in everyday enclosure work.
Tradeoff: may not be the best fit for someone specifically seeking a premium, longer-lasting upgrade.
My advice: compare the full installed cost or roll cost—not just the price tag—and buy the right width and mesh for your project.
What does Super Screen cost?
Prices depend on mesh count, roll width, roll length, seller, and shipping. An 8-foot-wide roll can cost substantially more than a narrow roll, so compare the exact dimensions. For an apples-to-apples benchmark, the manufacturer listed 8-foot-wide × 100-foot rolls at $428 for 17/14, $508 for 17/20, and $540 for 20/20 when checked in October 2026. Prices and availability change, so confirm the current total before ordering.

Pros and cons from the jobsite
What I like
- Premium material option for pool cages and screened lanais.
- I like the material's handling and feel during installation.
- I've had no callbacks on my Super Screen installations so far.
- Several mesh options for different applications.
What to think about
- Higher upfront material cost than standard fiberglass.
- Choosing the wrong mesh can compromise airflow or insect protection.
- Correct spline, tension, framing condition, and installation still matter.
- No screening material is immune to damage.
Where to buy Super Screen
Know your opening measurements, mesh preference, roll width and length before purchasing. A 100-foot roll is not always the best choice for a small repair; compare shorter rolls and screen sold by the foot, too. If you're buying for a large pool enclosure, double-check waste allowances and the manufacturer's installation guidance.

Frequently asked questions
Is Super Screen worth the extra money?
It can be if durability is your priority and the extra cost fits your budget. I would compare the material against standard fiberglass for your specific enclosure rather than assume premium screen is always necessary.
Which Super Screen mesh is best for no-see-ums?
Generally, tighter mesh is the starting point for smaller insects, but verify the manufacturer's insect-protection recommendations and consider the effect on airflow.
Can I install Super Screen myself?
Some homeowners can replace individual panels, but large or elevated pool cages require special equipment and professional safety precautions. Watch the installation tutorial above for a real-world example.
How long does Super Screen last?
Service life varies with environment, installation, and use. Manufacturer warranty terms are not the same as a guarantee that every installation will last a particular number of years.
Where can I buy Super Screen rolls?
Start with the manufacturer's website to compare current products and buying options.
My bottom line
If you're planning to keep your pool cage or lanai for years, Super Screen deserves a serious look. I've installed it on real jobs, and I like working with it. Just make sure you're buying the correct mesh and dimensions, and don't overlook installation quality.
